S. Timothy Shafer, O.D.

Dr. S. Timothy Shafer 

is the optometric director of Ohio Eyecare Specialists. He coordinates optometric and ophthalmic clinical activities, as well as patient screenings and refractive evaluations.

Dr. Shafer also serves as Lab Director for Ohio Eyecare Specialists.  He is trained in new advanced lab testing that can help diagnose dry eyes.   He has special interest in therapy for dry eyes as well as difficult to fit contact lens patients. A graduate of optometry at Indiana University, Dr. Shafer continued his post graduate studies at the University of Cincinnati, for his Diagnostic Pharmaceutical License (DPA), and at Ohio State University for his Therapeutic Pharmaceutical License (TPA).

Dr. Shafer has many years of experience and expertise in his field of optometry, and has served many positions in the optometric community, such as committee chairman of the Ohio Optometric Association, as well as President, and other elected positions, for the Miami Valley Society of Optometrists. He is and has been a member of numerous academic and leadership societies.

Dr. Shafer maintains an active role in optometry, keeping up on the latest techniques, state-of-the-art equipment and materials, bringing the patients of Ohio Eyecare Specialists the most up-to-date in vision and correction.
