Peter C. Koumas, D.O.

Dr. Peter C. Koumas is the director of our Xenia office as part of Ohio Eyecare Specialists.  He has been an integral part of Ohio Eyecare for the past 8 years.  He was previously in private practice in Dublin, Ohio for 17 years. 

He has worked extensively with Ophthalmology residents in Columbus, Ohio for 22 years.  He was the Chairman of the Ophthalmology Department at Doctors Hospital in Columbus from 1990-1991, 1993-1994, and from 1997-2000.  He has also been the team Ophthalmologists for the NHL Columbus Blue Jackets from 2000- 2003.

            Dr. Koumas has memberships in The American Academy of Ophthalmology, The American Osteopathic Association, The International Academy of Sports Vision, The Ohio Ophthalmologic Society, and the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists.  He is also the current President of the Dayton Area Society of Ophthalmologists and has been for the past two and a half years. 

            Dr. Koumas has a special interest in glaucoma and was one of the first Ophthalmologists in the state of Ohio to perform Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty using an SLT laser.  He and Ohio Eyecare Specialists are also part of a nationwide glaucoma research study sponsored by the Registry in Glaucoma Outcomes Research and the Federal Government.
