Cosmetic Surgery

Oculoplastic surgeons draw on expertise gained from treating patients' eyes and surrounding musculature and tissues, including the tear drain and orbit. They are adept at recognizing how small surgical changes can significantly improve a person's appearance and expression.

They understand subtleties of the facial areas' convergence zones, skin tension, and fat deposits. They know how to achieve desired results without overcorrecting – which can make a face appear unnaturally taut or give a person a look of perpetual surprise.

Eyelid Surgery: Upper and Lower Lid Blepharoplasty

Also known as blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery improves the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. It gives a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more rested and alert.

  • Upper eyelid surgery can remove excess loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid.

  • Lower eyelid blepharoplasty can remove excess skin and fine wrinkles as well as excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the lower eyelids.

  • Lower eyelid surgery can also correct droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (colored portion of the eye).

  • Bags under or above the eyes can be corrected by blepharoplasty.

Brow Lift: Trichophytic and Transblepharoplasty Endotine

While a browlift is most often performed to minimize the visible effects of aging on our patients aged forty to sixty, the procedure is increasingly being done earlier in the mid to late thirties. Of the various browlift techniques, the main difference is the incision placement.

The Trichophytic approach places the incision immediately at the hairline and is ideal for patients with high foreheads and slightly elevated hairlines. In this way, the hairline is not elevated any further, leaving you with a natural post-operative result.

The Endotine Transblepharoplasty Browlift Iimplant is a relatively new device used to lift brows through a traditional eyelid crease incision. This technique avoids the potentially visible incision on the forehead used in traditional direct brow lifts. This implant was developed by Coapt Systems, Incorporated, a company that also designs implants used in forehead and midface lifts.

S-Face Lift

An alternative for some patients to the traditional face lift is the S-Face Lift. Named for the S-shaped incision hidden in front of the ear, the S-Lift provides an overall lift to the lower third of a patient's face and cheeks.

Baggy eyelids, crow's feet, descended eyebrows or a wrinkled forehead can be addressed by combining your face lift with a brow lift or an eyelid lift. Your personal cosmetic goals will determine which single procedure or combination of procedures should be performed.

Brow and Eyelash Transplantation

Women and men with complete or partial eyelash or eyebrow loss can regain their eyebrows and eyelashes through a micro surgical hair transplant procedure. These procedures provide thicker eyebrows and longer lashes for anyone who has lost theirs for numerous reasons. These procedures can also be used simply to thicken existing eyebrows or to lengthen existing eyelashes for cosmetic reasons.

Botox and Dysport

The main active ingredient for Dysport® and for Botox®, is a refined form of the botulinum toxin type A. This toxin acts as a neuromuscular blocker that inhibits muscle tension, which can create the appearance of facial wrinkles in the forehead, crow’s feet around the eyes, and creases near the corners of the mouth.

Botulinum toxin is an approved treatment for blepharospasm in the United States. The term blepharospasm ['blef-a-ro-spaz-m] can be applied to any abnormal blinking or eyelid spasm, tic or twitch resulting from various causes. When treated for blepharospasm, minute doses of botulinum toxin are injected intramuscularly into several sites above and below the eyes.

Facial Fillers: Restylane, Juvedern, Perlane, Radiesse

Facial fillers are FDA approved and used to treat facial wrinkles and folds. They are natural cosmetic dermal (skin) fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct deep facial wrinkles and folds.

Restylane, Juvederm, and Perlane are made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. Dermal filler injections are quick and results are immediate. The average results last approximately six to eight months. Results for Radiesse are longer lasting and in many patients may last up to a year or longer.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel, also called chemexfoliation or derma peeling, is one of the least invasive ways to improve the appearance of your skin. Although chemical peels are used mostly on the face, they can also be used to improve the skin on your neck and hands.

Sun exposure, acne or just getting older can leave your skin tone uneven, wrinkled, spotted or scarred. If you want your skin to look smoother and younger, consider a chemical peel, which uses a chemical solution to smooth the texture of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers.
