Strict lid hygiene is very important when it comes to the treatment
of blepharitis. The following regimen may be useful:

1. Fill a small glass with warm water and two drops of baby (no tears)
shampoo.

2. Dip a cotton ball in the solution and pass the soaked cotton
ball over each closed eyelid three of four times.

3. Rinse with cool tap water and gently dry with a clean towel.

4. Use eyedrops if necessary as directed by your Eyecare specialist.

Treatments used for oily scalps and anti-dandruff shampoos may
also be helpful in treating seborrheic cases. Once the initial phase is
controlled, lid hygiene, as directed above, and the limited use of
antibiotic ointments and drops may be sufficient to control blepharitis. In more severe cases, various antibiotics and even steroid preparations may be necessary to eliminate the condition.
